MAIB 3rd Edition: Call for application is open until 8th July 2016!


Designed by University of Milano-Bicocca (Milan, Italy) in partnership with Centennial College (Toronto, Canada) and Alliance University (Bangalore, India), MAIB – Master in International Business Development aims to offer a uniquely designed, cutting-edge international business education, which will enable students to sensitize, learn and equip themselves to the reality of living and working in today’s global environment. The main goal is to preparing future business leaders to tackle today’s complex business environment. MAIB is designed to provide companies with graduates who have both international business and management skills, with “hands-on” approach and cross-cultural competencies. The program provides a truly international and multicultural learning environment, which makes its graduates very attractive to potential employers worldwide.

Who is it for?

MAIB is for University graduates with 3 years bachelor degree or its equivalent across any discipline. The program is suitable for students with preferably 1-2 years of work experience who are interested in gaining broad information on business fundamentals and acquiring inter-cultural competencies, which are inherent to living and working in today’s global world. Our students come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds and we consider candidates who believe in the value of diversity and aspire to lead organizations and communities across boundaries.

Career Prospects

MAIB students have both international business management skills and cross-cultural competencies. Students are typically recruited in industry, banks, consultancies, NGOs, and other relevant organisations across the following sectors:

Program Structure

MAIB is a 14 months, full time course of 90 ECTS credits where you attain two internationally recognized degrees: a 1 st  Level European Master Degree and a Canadian Graduate Certificate in International Business Management (IBM), with an option of a 3rd  MBA Degree from Alliance University (India), with an additional study period of 4 months.

The program is spread over 3 academic terms, with a total of 580 class hours, followed by 3 months Internship equivalent to 500 hours.

1 st Term – ITALY 26 th Sept. 2016 – 22nd December 2016

Winter break 23rd December 2016 – 8 th January 2017

2 nd Term – INDIA 9 th January 2017 – 14 th April 2017

Spring break 15 th April 2017 – May 2017

3 rd Term – CANADA 8 th May 2017 – 11 th August 2016 (IBM+MAIB)

4 th Term – INTERNSHIP Beginning of Sept/Oct 2017 – Nov/Dec 2017 (MAIB+IBM)



MAIB is an intensely experiential programme, balancing theory and practice with options you can tailor to meet your leadership and development needs. MAIB curriculum is a blend of rigorous management education, with strong focus on developing inter-cultural competencies. The learning model lays strong emphasis on teamwork and study groups as an essential part of the academic experience.

ITALY – Term 1 Courses (20 ECTS)

INDIA – Term 2 Courses (20 ECTS)

  • Strategy – Global strategic management – the 3P approach

  • Social Accountability and Change Management – Team-work and leadership in a global environment.

CANADA – Term 3 (30 ECTS including IBM courses for the double degree)

  • Developing an International Business Plan (online course)

TERM 4 – Internship (20 ECTS)

The last quarter of the Master’s program is dedicated to the internship. Participants are awarded a maximum of 20 credits for the Internship program. Internship provides a unique opportunity to participants – by opening doors in the job market – to put theoretical knowledge into practice, in preparation of future international careers. The additional MBA study period at Alliance University will be structured around 7 modules and Dissertation:

MAIB provides Career Development Service at all its partner locations. We offer you the tools, networks, and opportunities you’ll need to find a suitable internship and job placement. We proactively support you with your career goals and aspirations by following the below path:

Program Partners



A bachelor degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution is required for admission to the MAIB Program. Work experienced is preferred, but is not mandatory. All candidates are required to be proficient in English language.

The Admission team looks for intellectually inquisitive applicants from diverse educational, professional, socio- cultural, and geographic backgrounds. The candidates are assessed based on their curriculum, academic track record, work experience, English language certification, reference letters and personal statement.

The selection results for the 3 rd batch will be announced on July 26 th 2016.

Tuition fees and funding options

The tuition fee of the program is: € 15,000.00 to be paid in 3 instalments.

Scholarship: We are offering 10 Scholarships for the academic year 2016-2017: 5 Scholarships of € 7.600,00 and another 5 Scholarships of € 5.000,00 granted by Fondazione Cariplo to participants.

Silvia holds a BA in Intercultural communication from University of Milano-Bicocca and a MA in globalisation and development studies from Maastricht University. She has worked in the sector of internationalization and student mobility with a specific focus on intercultural issues. Professor of Strategy and International Management at University of Milano-Bicocca and expert in International Business in fashion companies. She was a Research Assistant, INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France) and Queen’s School of Business (Ontario, Canada). She was also a visiting Professor at Fudan School of Management (Shanghai, China).

Rodolfo Helg
Is Professor of Economics at Cattaneo University-LIUC, Castellanza (Italy) where he is also the Director of the research Centre – OSS India (Observatory on India). He is also adjunct professor at Bocconi University, visiting professor at Johns Hopkins University–SAIS Bologna Center, IESEG Lille/Paris and Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok).

Ida Cadtiglioni
Is a professor of intercultural communication at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Milano-Bicocca and at the Institute for Intercultural Communication in Portland, Oregon. She is an intercultural training consultant for various profit and non-profit organizations in Italy and abroad.


Ray Titus
Is Professor of Marketing & Strategy at the Alliance School of Business (Alliance University). Ray holds an MBA from the International Management Institute in Belgium. He completed his Post Graduate program in Planning and Industrial Entrepreneurship from the Indian institute of Planning & Management, New Delhi, and his Graduate Studies in Hotel Management as a topper at IHM, Trivandrum. Ray is also a certified Six Sigma (Green belt) awarded by KPMG.

Debashish Sengupta

Is a Ph.D. and specializes in Employee Engagement, Strategic Human Resource Management
and Training & Development. He is also certified in Leadership Development by the Japan Management Association Management Centre (JMAM). Some of his research papers are listed on global EBSCO database.

Mohan Gopinath
Holds a PhD degree, which he obtained from Osmania University on the topic Organizational
Learning (in the banking industry). Dr. Gopinath worked as a management consultant in India and the Middle East and has also worked as a lead consultant for a World Bank funded Institutional Development Study conducted for the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department.

Pratima Verma

Teaches organizational behavior, leadership and organizational behavior, and human capital
management and audit, while pursuing research interests in the areas of business ethics and value-based management. Professor Verma has completed her post-doctoral studies from the Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden.


Julie Nguyen

Holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies and Asian Research both from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver). She was a consultant for the United Nations in Hanoi and has worked on many international development projects. Dr. Nguyen is currently a Professor and Program Coordinator in International Business and International Development at Centennial College in Toronto.

Amar Rahou

Is currently a professor at Centennial College in Toronto and a lecturer in Economics, Financial and International Business at Lakehead University in Orillia, Ontario. He holds a PhD in Economic and Finance, both the MSc and the PhD from Glamorgan University in UK. Dr. Rahou has researched in financial forecasting volatility.

James Wyer

Presently he is a Professor at Centennial College, teaching International Studies and Supply Chain courses. He is a successful entrepreneur and educator. James Wyer obtained his MBA from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. He is also a Continuing Education Program Supervisor with the business portfolio and a Coordinator for the International Student Exchange program.
